50th BCS Preliminary Exam Confirmed for 30 January

The Bangladesh High Court on Thursday dismissed a writ petition seeking the suspension of the 50th BCS preliminary examination, clearing the way for the test to proceed as scheduled tomorrow, Friday, 30 January 2026. The ruling was delivered by a two-judge bench comprising Justice Rajik-al-Jalil and Justice Md. Anowarul Islam.

Following the decision, Deputy Attorney General Nur Muhammad Azmi confirmed that the preliminary examination would be held nationwide without disruption. “The High Court has directly rejected the writ petition. Accordingly, the examination will be conducted in all designated centres as planned,” he said.

The writ petition had been filed on Wednesday by Enamul Haque and three other candidates who sought to postpone the preliminary exam. The petition was listed as item 77 on Thursday’s court docket. During the hearing, the petitioners were represented by their lawyer Nazmus Sakib, while the government’s case was presented by Deputy Attorney General Azmi.

Earlier, on 20 January, Enamul Haque and a group of candidates had submitted a memorandum to the Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman requesting that all examinations be postponed during the national election campaign period. Receiving no response from the PSC, the candidates subsequently filed the writ petition.
