The voting process for the 13th National Parliament and Referendum of Bangladesh took place on Thursday, 12 February 2026, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM across the country. In this historic election, nearly 90 million registered voters exercised their democratic right, marking a significant moment in the nation’s political history.
To ensure faster and more accurate dissemination of election results, the Election Commission (EC) introduced advanced technology this year, enabling voters to access live updates and detailed electoral information through a newly launched mobile application.
The app, named “Smart Election Management BD”, is available on both Android and iOS platforms, providing voters with a comprehensive, user-friendly digital interface to track election results in real time.
How the App Works
1. Download and Installation
Voters can search for “Smart Election Management BD” on Google Play Store or Apple App Store and install the app on their smartphones. Once installed, the app can be opened immediately for use.
2. Voter Login
To access personal voting information and Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) details, voters must log in using their Voter ID or National Identity Number. Post-login, users can check their voter status, polling station, and voting documentation.
3. Selecting Election and Centre
The home screen offers an “Election Results” or “Voting Results” option. Voters select the type of election—National Parliament, Upazila, Municipality, or Union—and then choose the relevant district and polling station to view specific results.
4. Live Vote Counting and Results
Live vote updates are provided per polling centre. As votes are counted at each station, the results are uploaded directly to the app, displaying the number of votes, party or candidate shares, and percentage breakdowns.
5. Graphical and Chart Presentation
The app converts raw data into intuitive graphs and charts, making it easier for users to understand the standing of candidates and political parties at a glance.
The table below summarises the key features of the app:
| Step | Feature | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Download & Installation | Install the app via Play Store or App Store |
| 2 | Login | Access using Voter ID or National ID number |
| 3 | Election Type | Select National Parliament, Upazila, Municipality, or Union election |
| 4 | District & Centre | Choose district and polling station to view local results |
| 5 | Live Results | Receive real-time updates as votes are counted |
| 6 | Graphs & Charts | Visual representation of candidates’ and parties’ standings |
Through this innovative application, voters can now follow every stage of the electoral process—from casting votes to centre-wise results and statistical analysis—without leaving their homes. This digital leap has enhanced transparency, speed, and accessibility, marking a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s electoral history.
For the first time, citizens can experience real-time election monitoring, demonstrating the transformative role of technology in modernising the nation’s democratic process.
