Rigorous Market Oversight Launched Ahead of Ramadan

In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, the administration of Kazipur Upazila in Sirajganj has launched a comprehensive market monitoring campaign to regulate essential commodity prices and ensure orderly trading. The initiative, which began on Wednesday, 18 February, is aimed at safeguarding consumers and preventing artificial price hikes during the festive season.

From early morning, Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mostafizur Rahman conducted inspections across several local markets, emphasising both price transparency and supply stability. According to sources, the UNO visited Shimantobazar, Sonamukhi Alampur Market, and Laxmipur Market between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, engaging directly with traders to review price lists, stress adherence to fair pricing, and encourage uninterrupted product availability.

During the inspections, the UNO directed the removal of unauthorised structures occupying market spaces. Several makeshift stalls were dismantled on the spot, while owners of remaining obstructions were instructed to remove them at their own responsibility. A stern warning was issued that any violation detected in subsequent inspections would lead to demolition of non-compliant structures.
