Local law enforcement and community members identified the deceased individuals as 35-year-old Md Rubel, son of the late Sagir Ahmed Driver from the West Farirbil area of Palongkhali union in Ukhia upazila, and 28-year-old Mohammad Arman Chowdhury, son of Abul Kasem from the Ghilatali area of Whykong union in Teknaf upazila. The two men were travelling together on a single motorcycle for personal or professional commitments when the tragedy struck.

According to police accounts, Rubel and Arman were journeying towards Palongkhali from Ukhia when their motorcycle reached the Keruntali stretch of the highway. At that moment, a heavy truck travelling from the opposite direction collided head-on with their two-wheeler. The impact of the crash was devastating, instantly crushing the motorcycle and flinging the riders onto the asphalt. Md Rubel succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, local bystanders rushed to assist the critically wounded Mohammad Arman Chowdhury, hastily transporting him to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Despite the best efforts of the attending medical staff, Arman’s condition deteriorated rapidly while under observation, and he passed away shortly after admission.

Following the incident, the driver of the killer truck abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene to evade apprehension. Nurul Absar, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Whykong Highway Police Station, confirmed that investigators launched an immediate search operation. Through diligent tracking and field intelligence, highway police successfully located the offending truck and seized it as evidence. Authorities have stated that legal procedures are underway to trace the fugitive driver and hold him accountable for the fatal crash.
