Brutal Double Murder and Sexual Assault Shocks Ishwardi

A wave of horror has swept through the village of Bhawanipur Uttarpara in Ishwardi, Pabna, following the discovery of two female family members murdered in a suspected home invasion and sexual assault. The victims, an elderly grandmother and her teenage granddaughter, were found dead on Saturday morning in circumstances that have left the local community reeling.

The Midnight Tragedy

The events unfolded during the late hours of Friday, 27 February 2026. According to local reports, residents of the Dashuria Union were disturbed by the sound of muffled cries and distress echoing through the darkness at approximately midnight. While some neighbours stepped out onto the road to investigate, the silence that followed led them to believe the disturbance had passed.

It was only at daybreak that the grim reality was revealed. Sufia Khatun, 65, the wife of Nozimuddin, was discovered lying in a pool of blood within the courtyard of her own home. She had been brutally struck down, likely during the initial phase of the intrusion.

Discovery of the Second Victim

Panic escalated when the family realised that Sufia’s 15-year-old granddaughter, Jamila Akter, was missing from the premises. A frantic search by relatives and villagers ended in a nearby mustard field, where Jamila’s body was found abandoned.

Preliminary assessments by both the local community and law enforcement suggest a harrowing sequence of events. It is suspected that after murdering the grandmother, the assailants abducted the teenager, subjected her to a violent sexual assault, and subsequently took her life to eliminate any witnesses.
