Police in Narayanganj have recovered a government-issued pistol that was snatched from a police officer during an attack in the city, approximately 22 hours after the incident. The weapon was retrieved during a late-night operation carried out by district police and the Detective Branch (DB) in Bandar upazila.
The firearm had been taken from Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Lutfur Rahman of the Shitalakkhya Police Outpost while he was on duty in the Nitaiganj area of Narayanganj city early on Monday. According to police sources, three assailants arriving on a motorcycle launched a sudden attack on the officer and forcibly seized his loaded service pistol before fleeing the scene.

The detainee has been identified as Md Mishal, also known as Bishal, aged 30. He is a resident of the Deobhog Water Tank area of Narayanganj city and the son of the late Mizanur Rahman. Police described him as a professional snatcher with prior involvement in criminal activities.
Mishal was arrested at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday during a raid in the Sonakanda Byaparipara area of Bandar upazila. During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly admitted that the pistol had been stolen with the intention of using it in future robbery operations.
