Eid Celebrated with Sweet Exchange at Hili Border

In a heartening display of friendship and goodwill, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) exchanged sweets and festive greetings at the Hili border to mark the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The event took place on Saturday (21 March) at noon along the zero line separating the two countries in Dinajpur’s Hili sector. Members of both forces warmly greeted each other and reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining peace, security, and cordial relations along the border.

At exactly 12:00 pm, the ceremonial exchange began. Commander Md. Alauddin of the Joypurhat BGB presented four packets of sweets to Shri Rahid Sharma of the BSF as a gesture of Eid goodwill. In a reciprocal gesture, the BSF offered an equal number of sweet packets to the BGB personnel, symbolising mutual respect and friendship.

The ceremony was attended by both male and female officers from each force. Amid a cheerful and festive atmosphere, the officers exchanged Eid greetings, engaged in friendly interactions, and strengthened the bonds of cooperation between the neighbouring countries’ border forces.

Significance of the Event

Hili BGB Company Commander Md. Alauddin highlighted the importance of maintaining strong ties and camaraderie between the two border forces. “On special occasions, we exchange sweets and gifts with our counterparts to foster goodwill and fraternal spirit,” he said. “Today, on Eid-ul-Fitr, we presented sweets to the BSF, and they reciprocated warmly. Such gestures play an important role in promoting harmony and friendly relations along the border.”
