The incident occurred during a robbery investigation involving a young man named Rasel. On Sunday, 22 March, a team of eight officers from Paba Police Station arrested him at Pillapara Mor near Sahida Haque Filling Station. Witnesses said that Rasel’s mother, several relatives, and local residents gathered at the scene and forcibly took him from police custody, creating a tense standoff.
Residents reported that the mob removed Rasel while he was still wearing handcuffs. Police later sought to retrieve the restraints and, according to locals, enlisted the help of intermediaries.
