Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel has been sent back to custody after a Dhaka court revoked his bail for allegedly breaching the conditions of a settlement agreement in a fraud case involving inducement of marriage and misappropriation of funds.
The order was issued on Thursday (2 April) by Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed following a hearing at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. Nobel, who was present in court on the scheduled hearing date, had been released earlier under conditional bail linked to an agreement to pursue an out-of-court settlement. However, prosecutors informed the court that he had failed to comply with the agreed terms, prompting an application for cancellation of his bail.
After reviewing submissions from both sides, the court accepted the prosecution’s plea, cancelled his bail, and ordered that he be sent back to prison.
Earlier, on 24 February, the same court had granted Nobel interim bail on the condition that he would cooperate in a settlement process. That bail arrangement was set to remain valid until Thursday, subject to compliance with the agreed conditions.
Allegations and Case Background
According to case documents, the complainant, Anannya Shabnam Roz, alleged that Nobel developed a relationship with her under the promise of marriage and subsequently defrauded her of a significant sum of money. Between August 2023 and June 2025, he is accused of receiving a total of BDT 1,318,540 in multiple instalments, which he allegedly failed to return.
The case was filed on 13 August 2025, after which the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to carry out an inquiry. The PBI’s final report reportedly found preliminary evidence supporting the allegations, strengthening the prosecution’s case.
Following the investigation, on 3 February 2026, a court issued arrest warrants against Nobel, along with four other individuals, including his mother and wife. He was subsequently arrested on 23 February from the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.

Previous Legal Troubles
This is not the first time the singer has faced legal difficulties. In May 2025, he was arrested in a separate case filed at Demra Police Station involving allegations of rape and assault. He was later released on bail shortly after reportedly marrying the complainant while in custody.
The latest court ruling marks another significant setback for Nobel, as the case now proceeds further through the judicial process with his renewed detention.
