A tragic road accident in Rangpur city has claimed the life of a motorcycle rider after he was struck by a speeding bus on a busy highway, leaving the local community in deep shock and grief.
The deceased has been identified as Juel Hossain, approximately 40 years old, a professional contractor and well-known resident of the area. He was the son of the late Johurul Haque of Kellaband in Rangpur city. Although his ancestral home was in Kellaband, he had recently been residing with his family in the Shapla Adarshapara neighbourhood.
According to family members and local sources, the fatal incident occurred on Sunday morning near the Ideal Mor junction on the Rangpur city highway. At the time, Juel Hossain was travelling by motorcycle from the Terminal area towards Medical Mor. Eyewitness accounts suggest that as he approached Ideal Mor, he suddenly lost control of his motorcycle. The vehicle reportedly struck a central road divider, causing him to be thrown across into the opposite lane.
In a devastating sequence of events, a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction ran over him. He died instantly at the scene. The bus involved in the accident did not stop and fled the area immediately, making identification difficult for authorities.
Police from the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Station arrived shortly after receiving the report. They recovered the body from the scene and carried out the necessary legal procedures before handing it over to the family for burial arrangements.
