A gruesome incident has been reported in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district, where the severed body of a young man from Mohammadpur upazila in Magura was recovered from inside a sack. Police retrieved the body from the Bontola area of Haatkhola village on Tuesday (5 April) at around 8 pm. Two suspects have been detained in connection with the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Robiul Islam (35), son of Golam Sarwar of Sindain village under Mohammadpur upazila. He worked professionally as a power tiller operator.
The detained individuals are Shahjada of Andarkotha village in Boalmari upazila and Topu Saha, son of Pankaj Saha from the same upazila.
According to local sources, a white microbus arrived in the Bontola area in the evening and stopped at a secluded spot. A sack was then allegedly thrown from the vehicle beside the road before it attempted to leave the area quickly.
Residents became suspicious and attempted to chase the vehicle. During the pursuit, the microbus lost control and overturned. Following the incident, several occupants of the vehicle tried to flee. Locals managed to detain two individuals, while others escaped.
Subsequently, upon opening the sack, residents discovered the body of a young man. The victim’s throat had been slit, and multiple injuries from sharp weapons were observed on various parts of the body.
Police were informed and arrived at the scene shortly afterwards. They recovered the body and took the two detained individuals into custody for questioning.
Family members of the deceased stated that Robiul Islam had travelled earlier the same day to Haatkhola village in Boalmari with Shahidul Islam, son of Hafez Molla from the same village. He reportedly went to his son-in-law’s house, where a dispute arose regarding an outstanding motorcycle. Shahidul Islam then left Robiul behind. After that, Robiul could no longer be traced.
Relatives further stated that Shahidul Islam and his son-in-law, Shahidul Haque, have been absconding since the incident.
