The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently being administered by an 11-member interim ad-hoc committee, under the leadership of president Tamim Iqbal. This temporary governance framework is scheduled to remain in place until 7 June, when formal BCB elections will be conducted to establish a permanently elected board of directors.

During a recent broadcast of the BCB’s official Char-Chokka podcast, interim board member and head of the finance committee, Israfil Khosru, addressed the critical necessity of bringing structural and administrative stability to the nation’s cricketing governance. Khosru argued that the fundamental responsibilities of the sports governing body are fundamentally straightforward, consisting of the provision of adequate training facilities, the upkeep of athletic infrastructure, and the delivery of reliable institutional backing.
Khosru stated that by adhering strictly to these core principles, the BCB would operate transparently for the benefit of the general public rather than serving any specific interest group. He remarked that cricket is intrinsically woven into the national fabric of Bangladesh, describing the sport as an undeniable component of the population’s cultural identity.
Strategic Development and the Domestic Pipeline
Khosru explicitly acknowledged that historical infrastructure development has failed to keep pace with the extensive timeline of Bangladesh’s cricketing journey. He urged the institution to confront these shortcomings systematically to ensure future progress.

Touching upon monetary disputes, Khosru revealed that the ad-hoc committee discovered significant outstanding financial liabilities concerning the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) upon assuming control. The interim management took immediate administrative steps to liquidate these arrears, ensuring that the affected players received their legal financial shares.
Khosru asserted that the advancement of domestic cricket cannot occur if the welfare of the athletes is compromised. He observed that when the governing board provides comprehensive financial and structural security, player motivation increases. With external financial distractions eliminated, athletes can focus entirely on performance, transforming the board’s role into that of a proactive service provider.
