Habibur Rahman has set a new record for the fastest century in Bangladesh’s 50-over cricket, reaching the milestone in just 45 balls for Legends of Rupganj against City Club at the ULAB Ground in the Dhaka Premier League. The innings came only six days after he had equalled the fastest fifty record in domestic List A cricket.
Prior to this performance, Habibur jointly held the record for the fastest List A century in Bangladesh alongside Mosaddek Hossain, both having previously reached three figures in 49 balls. His 45-ball hundred has now placed him solely at the top of the record list.
In his most recent explosive outing before this match, Habibur struck a 15-ball fifty against Mohammedan Sporting Club, during which he scored 26 runs in a single over from Nahid Rana and 25 runs in an over from Taskin Ahmed. However, his innings against City Club began more cautiously. He managed only six runs from his first nine deliveries.
He opened his boundary account in the fourth over by hitting a four off Nihad Uz Zaman, followed immediately by a six. In the following over, when the same bowler returned, Habibur accelerated sharply, scoring 22 runs in that over alone. He brought up his fifty in 26 balls before further increasing his scoring rate after reaching the milestone.
From fifty onwards, he added the next fifty runs in just 19 balls, completing his century in 45 deliveries. He eventually scored 130 runs from 58 balls before being dismissed, caught off the bowling of Abdullah Al Mamun. His innings included 13 sixes and 8 fours, underlining the dominance of his stroke play.

Habibur’s achievement also adds to his record-breaking form across formats. In 2023, he had earlier scored a 49-ball century in the Bangladesh Cricket League. In T20 cricket, he holds the fastest century by a Bangladeshi batter across all recognised formats, having reached three figures in 35 balls against Hong Kong China in the Rising Stars Asia Cup while representing Bangladesh ‘A’ team.
