Court Summons Tanjin Tisha Over Jamdani Saree Controversy

A lingering dispute surrounding a traditional Jamdani saree has resurfaced in the entertainment industry after a court issued a formal summons to the prominent Bangladeshi actress and model, Tanjin Tisha. The controversy, which first emerged nearly ten months ago following a legal notice, had temporarily faded from public attention. However, the recent judicial intervention has brought the allegations back into the media spotlight, causing significant unease within the celebrity’s immediate circle.

Family members and close associates of the actress have expressed profound discomfort regarding the escalation of the matter. Many in her camp believe that a simple dispute over a gifted garment should never have progressed to a formal court case, attributing the severity of the situation to a clash of personalities rather than genuine conflict.

Sponsorship Discord and Industry Repercussions

Industry insiders suggest that even if the online boutique expected promotional coverage in exchange for the apparel, the issue could have been resolved through mutual dialogue. Concerns are growing among talent managers that such highly publicised disputes may discourage high-profile artists from accepting gifts from emerging digital entrepreneurs in the future. The ongoing litigation is viewed by many as an unnecessary stain on a performer’s professional reputation.

The root of the legal battle lies in a complaint filed by the proprietor of an online clothing boutique. According to the business owner, Tisha had initiated contact via social media to express a keen interest in a specific Jamdani saree from their collection. The boutique owner claims the item was provided as a commercial sponsorship under the strict condition that the actress would promote the brand on her digital platforms. The complainant alleges that despite receiving the premium saree, the model failed to deliver the promised publicity and refused to pay its retail value.

From the beginning, Tisha has consistently rejected the shop’s narrative, maintaining that the outfit was sent purely as an unconditional gift. When the allegations first surfaced, she took to her personal social media channels to mock the claims, questioning how accepting a gift could suddenly be categorised as fraud. She argued that if the boutique truly desired a professional promotional photoshoot, they should have negotiated an appropriate performance fee rather than expecting free publicity under the guise of a present.

Legal Defence and Financial Justification

Following the delivery of the court order last week, the actress began consulting her legal team to prepare a formal defence strategy. Tisha addressed the litigation during a press conference held for an unrelated project. When reporters questioned her about the active lawsuit, she confirmed her intention to appear in front of the magistrate, though she refrained from revealing specific details due to sub-judice restrictions.

“I will definitely attend the court hearing,” Tisha stated during the press briefing. “I initially wanted to share my side of the story publicly, but because the matter is now under active judicial consideration, I must remain silent. I hold the utmost respect for the laws of the country. I am confident that justice will prevail and I intend to fight this through proper legal channels.”

The model further questioned the financial logic behind the shop’s accusations, pointing out the vast disparity between the cost of the garment and her standing in the industry. “I have worked tirelessly for 14 years to build a reputable career as an artist. I did not spend over a decade establishing myself in this industry simply to defraud an online shop over a saree worth 27,000 to 28,000 taka. I trust that my audience and fans possess the rationality to understand the context of these claims,” she added.

The court has directed Tanjin Tisha to present herself at the designated judicial chamber on 13 August. The actress has reiterated her commitment to appearing in person to clarify her stance, while members of the media and the fashion industry await the court’s definitive ruling on the commercial boundary between celebrity gifts and digital marketing obligations.
