According to prison authorities, Islam had been incarcerated on 31 July following a court order connected to a regular case filed under stringent anti-terrorism legislation. He had been awaiting formal legal hearings and trials while housed within the high-security correctional institution.

Jail officials reported that Islam experienced sudden and acute chest pains around two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday.
