In a swift police operation in Rupnagar, Dhaka, six individuals were apprehended on Saturday evening while allegedly preparing to commit a robbery. The arrests were made by a patrol team from Rupnagar Thana at approximately 5:15 pm, when officers intercepted a suspicious private vehicle in the Berulia embankment area.
According to a press release issued on Sunday by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Division, the patrol team became suspicious of the car and conducted a search. The officers discovered several homemade weapons inside, including a Grand Harvest multifunctional outdoor knife and a wooden-handled knife, raising immediate concerns about the occupants’ intentions.
The six individuals, whose statements appeared inconsistent during initial questioning, later confessed to planning a robbery. The DMP confirmed that both the private car and the recovered weapons have been seized as evidence. Cases have been formally lodged against all six suspects at Rupnagar Thana.
