In a tragic accident on Saturday night, 20-year-old college student Nazmul Islam lost his life in Nalchity Upazila, Jhalokathi. The news of his sudden passing has cast a shadow of profound grief over the local community and the academic environment.
According to family and local sources, the incident occurred at around 9:00 pm in Baichandi village, where Nazmul was attempting to repair a fault in the household electricity connection at his residence. Unfortunately, during the repair work, he suffered a fatal electric shock and collapsed on the spot. Family members immediately rushed him to the Nalchity Upazila Health Complex, but doctors pronounced him dead after preliminary examinations.
Nazmul Islam was the son of Md. Shahjahan Hawladar of Baichandi village. The Officer-in-Charge of Nalchity Police Station, Mr. Ariful Alam, confirmed the incident, noting that as the family did not wish to lodge a formal complaint, the body was handed over to relatives without a post-mortem. However, the police will register the case as an unnatural death.
