In Gabtali Upazila, Bogura, a 55-year-old farmer, Abu Bakkar Siddique, was fatally attacked amid a longstanding land dispute, local sources and police confirmed. The incident occurred on Monday, 12 January, at approximately 7:00 pm in the village of Jat Halidabga.
Authorities and locals reported that a legal case concerning a disputed plot of land was ongoing between neighbours Ershad and Ataur, sons of Azizur Rahman. Abu Bakkar Siddique had been summoned as a key witness in the proceedings.

Gabtali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Anisur Rahman, stated: “The attack on Abu Bakkar Siddique was a deliberate act linked to the land dispute. The victim was beaten with sticks and rods. His body has been sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy, and efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.”
