In a decisive late-night operation, Narayanganj police apprehended six robbers in Siddhirganj while they were preparing to carry out a planned robbery. The arrest took place during a coordinated block raid in the Chittaranjan Ghat and Majhipara areas of Siddhirganj, where authorities also seized an array of weapons, drugs, and other implements commonly used in criminal activities.
According to police sources, the operation began when officers noticed several individuals behaving suspiciously near a wooden tree plantation adjacent to a large pond on the eastern bank of Chittaranjan in Arambag. Acting on their observations, the police launched a targeted raid, arresting six suspects on the spot. A subsequent, separate operation led to the detention of an additional two individuals connected to the case, bringing the total number of arrested suspects to eight.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Mohin (29), Mohammad Sajib (28), Mohammad Roni (30), Mohammad Babu (30), Mohammad Hasan (20), Iman (25), Shamim (33), and Jasim (38). Most of the suspects are residents of various localities within Siddhirganj.
Police reports indicate that the operation yielded a significant cache of weapons and illicit substances. The seized items included traditional machetes, several switchblades, large knives, double-edged axes, saws, iron rods, and stainless steel pipes, among other sharp implements. In addition to the weapons, authorities recovered 100 packets of heroin and 50 yaba tablets, underscoring the organised criminal intent of the group.

Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, confirmed that Sub-Inspector Gazi Mahtab Uddin has filed two separate cases against the arrested suspects. The police have also indicated that operations to apprehend any remaining fugitives linked to the planned robbery are ongoing, and appropriate legal measures have been taken against all involved.
This successful intervention highlights the proactive measures undertaken by the Siddhirganj police to maintain law and order and prevent organised crime in the region.
