RAJUK Conducts Major Demolition Drive Against Unauthorised Construction in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar

Dhaka, 27 January 2026 — The Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) launched an extensive demolition operation on Monday (26 January) targeting buildings constructed in violation of approved plans along Talatala Mollapara Road in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to enforce urban planning regulations and ensure public safety in the rapidly developing capital.

During the operation, government officials dismantled unauthorised extensions and warned property owners that any future construction without prior approval would prompt strict legal action. The drive was conducted under the jurisdiction of RAJUK Zone–3/2, extending from early morning until late afternoon, covering several buildings with unapproved modifications.

The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Mr Md. Sabuj Hasan, who stated, “Construction beyond approved designs not only mars the cityscape but also poses a significant risk to public safety. RAJUK’s demolition drives will be regular and ongoing, and no unauthorised construction will be tolerated.”

As part of the enforcement measures, one property owner was fined BDT 200,000 for flouting regulations. In addition, property owners were required to submit written commitments, or affidavits, agreeing to remove unauthorised structures within 30 days. Authorities emphasised that compliance is crucial for maintaining both urban aesthetics and community safety.

Present during the operation were RAJUK Zone–3/2’s authorised officers, including Mr Masuk Ahmed, Assistant Authorised Officer Mr Abdullah Al Mamun, Ms Sariya Islam, and Chief Building Inspector Mr Zainal Abedin Pintu, alongside other relevant officials.

The demolition drive is widely regarded as a significant step in upholding Dhaka’s urban planning laws and ensuring orderly development in the city. RAJUK officials reiterated their commitment to a systematic and law-abiding urban environment.
