Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has embarked on a new chapter in his personal life, marrying his long-time partner Gauri Spratt in a private family ceremony at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor, widely known as Bollywood’s “Mr Perfectionist”, completed the marriage registration on Sunday, choosing a modest celebration over an elaborate wedding. His three children stood by his side throughout the occasion, reflecting the close-knit nature of the event.
Rather than hosting a lavish gathering, Aamir and Gauri invited only immediate family members and a small circle of close friends to witness the ceremony. Among those present were Aamir’s children—Junaid Khan, Ira Khan and Azad—along with members of both families. The intimate celebration also included acclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, best known for directing Lagaan, and actress Elli AvrRam.
The marriage was confirmed to Indian media by Aamir Khan’s spokesperson. The ceremony unfolded much as the actor had previously indicated. He had made it clear that he preferred a simple legal registration followed by a quiet celebration with family and friends, rather than an extravagant public event. That plan was carried through exactly as intended.
Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt first became acquainted around 25 years ago. At the time, their relationship remained one of friendship. Their lives later took different paths before they reconnected in Bengaluru in 2024 through Aamir’s cousin, Nuzhat Khan. What began as a renewed friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship.
At the time of their reunion, Gauri was living in Bengaluru while Aamir was based in Mumbai. Roughly a year later, she relocated to Mumbai with her son, after which the couple began living together. Their relationship entered the public eye in March 2025, when Aamir introduced Gauri to the media during celebrations marking his 60th birthday. Speaking on that occasion, the actor said he felt calmer and more fulfilled at this stage of his life. Although he remarked that he had no plans to remarry at his age, he openly acknowledged that he felt secure, comfortable and happy with Gauri.
This marks the third marriage of the celebrated actor. Aamir first married Reena Dutta in 1986, and the couple had two children, Junaid and Ira. Although they separated in 2002, they have continued to work together in raising their children and have maintained a respectful relationship over the years.
In 2005, Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao. Their son, Azad, was born through surrogacy in 2011. The couple announced their separation in 2021 but have continued to collaborate professionally while maintaining an amicable family relationship. Kiran Rao remains a board member of Aamir Khan Productions, and the two have worked together on several projects, including the critically acclaimed Laapataa Ladies.
Beyond their professional collaborations, Aamir, Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta have continued to support each other through their involvement with the Paani Foundation, an organisation dedicated to addressing water conservation and rural development challenges in India. Their ability to sustain constructive personal and professional relationships after separation has often been noted as an example of mutual respect and shared commitment to family and social causes.
With his marriage to Gauri Spratt, Aamir Khan begins another significant phase in his life, choosing simplicity, privacy and the support of his family over public spectacle. The ceremony reflected the actor’s long-stated preference for meaningful personal celebrations, with his children and loved ones at the heart of the occasion.
