Al-Arafah Bank Launches Ten-Day Iftar Initiative

Bangladesh’s leading Shariah-compliant financial institution, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, has inaugurated a ten-day iftar distribution programme to mark the holy month of Ramadan. According to a press release from the bank, the initiative is designed to provide support to the underprivileged and overlooked individuals who rely on roadside meals during the fasting period.

The programme was officially launched on Sunday, 1 March 2026, at the bank’s headquarters. The ceremony was attended by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammad Rafat Ullah Khan, along with Deputy Managing Directors Md. Fazlur Rahman, Md. Asaduzzaman Bhuiya, Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiya, Mohammad Hossain, and S. M. Abu Zafar.

During the opening remarks, Mohammad Rafat Ullah Khan emphasised the deeper values of Ramadan. He said, “Ramadan teaches us self-purification, restraint, compassion, and a spirit of welfare. Standing beside the marginalised and helpless members of our society is a reflection of these values. Through this ten-day iftar distribution programme, we aim to assist those who need it the most.”

The initiative targets various strategic locations across the capital city each day. Beneficiaries primarily include street children, rickshaw pullers, daily wage earners, travellers, and other low-income individuals. Each distribution centre has been selected to maximise outreach, and the bank anticipates that thousands of people will benefit daily from this humanitarian effort.

The bank has also indicated that other areas of Dhaka will be progressively included throughout the programme. Beyond Shariah-based banking services, Al-Arafah Islami Bank remains actively engaged in education, healthcare, disaster relief, and various humanitarian projects under its corporate social responsibility framework.
