In a tragic incident at a garment factory in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, an Ansar personnel, Bajendra Biswas, 40, was fatally shot by a colleague on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 7:00 pm at the Sultana Sweaters Limited, a subsidiary of the Labib Group, located in the Mehrabari area of the upazila.
Bajendra Biswas, a native of Kadipur village in Sylhet Sadar, was the son of Pobitro Biswas. Following the shooting, police apprehended the alleged shooter, Noman Mia, aged 22, who hails from Baluturi Bazar, Taherpur, Sunamganj, and is the son of Lutfur Rahman.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, the factory employed 20 Ansar personnel for security duties. At the time of the incident, Bajendra and Noman were seated together inside the factory premises when, allegedly due to negligence, the shotgun in Noman’s possession discharged unexpectedly. The bullet struck Bajendra on the left shoulder, causing him to collapse in a pool of blood. Colleagues rushed him to the Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, Md. Zahidul Islam, confirmed the incident and stated that police immediately secured the scene and took Noman into custody. Bajendra’s body has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
The police are currently investigating whether the shooting was a mere accident or if there were underlying motives. A formal case has been registered, and inquiries are ongoing.
