Arsenal Title Hopes Hit Setback

Arsenal’s Premier League title ambitions suffered a setback after a 2–1 home defeat to Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, while Liverpool returned to winning form with a 2–0 victory over Fulham at Anfield on the same evening.

Arsenal fell behind in the 17th minute when Junior Kroupi opened the scoring for Bournemouth. The goal marked a notable milestone, as Kroupi became only the fourth teenager to score ten or more goals in a Premier League debut season. Arsenal responded in the 35th minute when Viktor Gyökeres converted a penalty to restore parity. However, the visitors regained the lead in the 71st minute through Alex Scott, and Arsenal were unable to find an equaliser in the remaining period.

The defeat ended Arsenal’s sequence of four consecutive wins in the league. Across all competitions, the result meant they have now lost three of their last four matches, a run that also includes exits from both the FA Cup and the League Cup.

On the same night, Liverpool ended a three-match winless run by defeating Fulham 2–0 at Anfield. The opening goal came in the 36th minute when Rio Ngumoha scored from the left side with a precise angled finish. Four minutes later, Mohamed Salah added the second goal from the right flank. The strike marked Salah’s sixth league goal of the season and his 11th in all competitions.

Despite the defeat, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table after 32 matches, holding 70 points. Manchester City sit in second place with 61 points from 30 matches, keeping pressure on the leaders in the closing stages of the season.

Liverpool’s win strengthens their position in the race for Champions League qualification. They are currently fifth in the standings with 52 points from 32 matches. Chelsea, who have a game in hand, are sixth with 48 points.
