In Faridpur’s Bhanga Upazila, multiple locations on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway and Barishal Highway were blocked from early Thursday morning (13 November) as part of the Awami League’s announced ‘lockdown’ programme.
In Suadi, Pukhuria, and Pulia areas, Awami League leaders and activists protested by setting tyres on fire and wielding traditional weapons such as shields, swords, spears, rams, knives, and tetsas. They also raised various slogans during the demonstration.
As a result, all vehicle movement on the Bhanga-Dhaka Expressway and Faridpur-Barishal Highway came to a halt. Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene promptly to restore order and manage the situation.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station, Rakibuzzaman, stated that Awami League activists blocked the roads at three locations in Bhanga. Police are attempting to control the situation, but traffic has not yet fully returned to normal.
