Bangladesh Moves Up Passport Ranking in 2026

Bangladesh has climbed two places to 93rd in the latest 2026 Henley & Partners Passport Index, reflecting a modest but notable improvement from its 95th position last year. According to the index, Bangladeshi passport holders can now travel to 37 countries without obtaining a visa in advance. In certain cases, however, access may require an on-arrival visa or e-visa.

The global rankings continue to highlight Singapore as the holder of the world’s most powerful passport. Japan and South Korea share the second position, while Sweden and the United Arab Emirates occupy third place. Several European nations, including Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland, are collectively ranked fourth. Austria, Greece, Malta, and Portugal stand fifth, with Hungary, Malaysia, New Zealand, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia in sixth place.

For Bangladeshi travellers, these developments represent an important easing of international mobility, particularly for tourism, business, and educational purposes, by reducing the bureaucratic hurdles associated with obtaining visas.
