The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe as the Tigers prepare for a multi-format bilateral tour. The tour will feature one Test, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, providing Bangladesh with another opportunity to strengthen combinations and assess player form ahead of a busy international calendar.
The ODI squad largely retains the core group that featured in Bangladesh’s recent home series against Australia, reflecting the selectors’ confidence in the players who have been part of the team’s recent white-ball plans. One notable omission, however, is all-rounder Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, who had been called up for the third ODI against Australia but has not been included for the Zimbabwe assignment.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been entrusted with the captaincy for the ODI series, while Najmul Hossain Shanto has been named vice-captain. The leadership combination underlines Bangladesh’s continued investment in experienced players capable of guiding the side during an important overseas campaign.
There had initially been concerns over the availability of Litton Das because of injury, but the officially announced ODI squad includes wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das among the selected players. His presence provides Bangladesh with additional experience and stability at the top of the batting order, alongside several established and emerging names.
The three-match ODI series is scheduled to be played on 6, 9 and 11 July at Harare Sports Club. All matches are set to begin at 1:30 pm Bangladesh time. Conditions in Zimbabwe have traditionally offered assistance to both seamers and spinners, making squad balance and adaptability key factors for success.
Before the ODI series begins, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will contest a solitary Test match starting on 28 June. Following the conclusion of the 50-over fixtures, the two sides will meet again in a three-match Twenty20 International series, completing a comprehensive tour across all three international formats.
The Zimbabwe tour represents another valuable assignment for Bangladesh as the team continues to build consistency away from home. With a blend of experienced internationals and promising talents, the visitors will aim to produce strong performances throughout the series while maintaining momentum in both the ODI and T20 formats.
