The Bihar government is preparing to enforce a comprehensive ban on the public sale of fish and meat, following its earlier prohibition on alcohol. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha announced the decision on Tuesday, 17 February, stressing that the measure aims to protect public health and uphold social and religious sensitivities.
According to the new regulation, the sale of fish and meat in public spaces will be strictly prohibited across the state. Only vendors holding a government-issued licence will be authorised to sell these items in accordance with official guidelines.
