BNP wants to create public suffering in name of rally: Hasan

“It is not right to create public sufferings through holding rallies. For this, our leader Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has always emphasized on holding rallies on holidays and at open ground to avoid creating public sufferings,” he said.

He responded in response to a question from reporters at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the city that journalists are vocally opposed to holding rallies by blocking streets, especially the main roads, and that the people don’t want it either. Hasan remarked that it is unexpected that the BNP would seek to organize a rally on Naya Paltan’s main thoroughfare. He continued, “Public sufferings must be created because it is one of the major roads in the capital.”

There are numerous venues in the city, he claimed, including Suhrawardy Udyan, the Purbachal trade fair ground, and others. He continued, “It is really incomprehensible why BNP wants to conduct the demonstration on one of the city’s main streets. In fact, the minister claimed, it will open up new opportunities for shoplifting, vandalism, and other forms of terrorism. Hasan, who serves as the joint general secretary of the Awami League, remarked, “And I don’t know whether they are doing this (rally) in that intention!”

In response to different question, the minister stated that the BNP severely violated human rights and that the party was created in an undemocratic manner through murder.
Ziaur Rahman, the founder of the BNP, had executed hundreds of soldiers without being tried.

Even the executions were carried out first while the verdicts of trials were announced later, he said, adding these are documented and have evidences.

He said that Begum Khaleda Zia had followed him and that her administration had been complicit in the barbaric grenade attacks of August 21 as well as the murders of Ahsanullah Master, Shah AMS Kibria, and numerous others, including journalists. The minister responded to a different question regarding the forthcoming visit of Indian actress Nora Fatehi to Bangladesh by stating that she is a well-known actress and will sing the theme song for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Through a Bangladeshi program, a group wants to produce a documentary, and the government has given its blessing.

He said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) can serve notice on them to collect value added tax (VAT) and other taxes, but they (NBR) have no jurisdiction to stop the programme. The NBR has the jurisdiction to collect VAT and tax, he added. Earlier, the minister unwrapped the cover of the book ‘Tourism of Bangladesh’ published by Department of Films and Publication (DFP).

Participating in the event were, among others, director Mohammad Ali, DFP director general SM Golam Kibria, and information and broadcasting secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker. Hasan claimed in the program that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, gave special attention to the nation’s tourism industry. The magazine will be crucial in this regard, he continued.
