BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, on Monday urged all political parties in Bangladesh to unite and work collaboratively to capitalise on the country’s evolving political landscape. He stressed that the recent developments present a unique opportunity to advance national interests and promote the welfare of the people.
According to media reports, Tarique Rahman stated, “Following the recent upheavals, new opportunities and circumstances have arisen in the country. It is imperative for the government, opposition, and all political stakeholders to come together and utilise this moment for the benefit of the nation.”
The remarks were made during a meeting held at the BNP central office in Gulshan on Monday, 5 January, with senior leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was also present at the discussion.
Shayrul Kabir, a member of BNP’s media cell, informed reporters that the leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance signed the condolence book of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia before holding their formal meeting with Tarique Rahman. The meeting provided an opportunity for direct engagement and dialogue on the current political situation.
Sources reported that the Left Alliance leaders arrived at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan at 11:00 a.m., initially paying their respects by signing the condolence book. Subsequently, they met individually with the acting chairman for more detailed discussions.

Political analysts suggest that such high-level engagements indicate BNP’s intention to leverage the current political scenario to formulate new strategies and consolidate its position in national politics. This initiative may pave the way for collaborative approaches among parties to address pressing national issues.
