In a targeted operation to bolster border security ahead of the national parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) successfully seized a substantial cache of both foreign and locally made weapons in Daulatpur Upazila, Kushtia.
According to a press release issued at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, Commanding Officer of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), stated that the raid was conducted at 1:30 am on Tuesday in the Poultry Mor Char area of Daulatpur. The location lies approximately 4.5 kilometres from the BGB camp deployed for election duty and roughly four kilometres inside the zero line of the international border.
The operation followed intelligence reports indicating suspicious activity in the border region, historically associated with arms trafficking and other irregular operations. In response, a specialised BGB patrol was dispatched to the area. Advanced technology, including drone surveillance and artificial intelligence-assisted analysis, was deployed to pinpoint the exact locations of concealed weapons, ensuring a precise and safe recovery.

No arrests were made during this specific raid. All confiscated weapons and ammunition were handed over to Daulatpur Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway.
Since the election schedule was announced on 11 December, Kushtia Battalion has intensified border security, arresting 13 suspects and recovering a total of eight foreign pistols, two locally made shooter guns, 12 magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, and 14 local bladed weapons.
