BRAC Bank Launches ATM Services at Five Metro Rail Stations

In a move set to significantly enhance commuter convenience, BRAC Bank has launched ATM services at five key stations along Dhaka’s MRT Line-6, further strengthening its alternative banking channel network. The initiative is aimed at providing fast, secure, and hassle-free banking services to the growing number of metro rail passengers who rely on the city’s most modern transport system for their daily travel.

The newly installed ATM booths are now fully operational at Pallabi, Mirpur-10, Farmgate, Shahbagh, and Bangladesh Secretariat metro stations. These locations are among the busiest on the MRT Line-6, serving thousands of passengers every day. By placing banking facilities at such strategic transport hubs, BRAC Bank has brought essential financial services directly into commuters’ daily routines.

Enhancing the Metro Travel Experience :

Dhaka’s metro rail has already transformed the capital’s urban mobility by offering faster, more reliable, and environmentally friendly transportation. The addition of BRAC Bank’s ATM services at these stations further elevates the passenger experience, allowing commuters to access round-the-clock banking facilities without the need to visit a branch.

Beyond cash withdrawals, users can take advantage of a wide range of technology-driven banking services, including fund transfers, balance enquiries, cardless cash withdrawals, and bKash cash-out facilities. These features reflect BRAC Bank’s continued focus on digital innovation and customer convenience, especially for time-constrained urban residents.

Partnership with DMTCL :

The initiative has been implemented under a formal agreement between Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL)—the operator of the metro rail—and BRAC Bank. The agreement was signed by Nazmur Rahim, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Alternative Banking Channels at BRAC Bank, and Faruk Ahmed, Managing Director of DMTCL.

The signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Brigadier General (Retd.) Md Abdul Wahab, Project Director of DMTCL; Khondkar Ehteshamul Kabir, Company Secretary (Joint Secretary); and senior representatives from BRAC Bank, such as Imtiaz Ahmed, Nakib Zaman, Khandaker Emdadul Haque, and Sabina Sarmin.

Commitment to Accessible Banking :

Speaking on the occasion, Nazmur Rahim stated that integrating banking services into daily transit points is part of BRAC Bank’s broader vision to make financial services more accessible and efficient for city dwellers. He emphasised that the bank plans to continue expanding its ATM network at key locations and transport hubs nationwide, ensuring inclusive banking access for all segments of society.

Nationwide Alternative Banking Network:

BRAC Bank currently operates a robust alternative banking infrastructure across the country, comprising 329 ATMs, 103 Cash Recycling Machines (CRMs), and 68 Remote Customer Deposit Machines (RCDMs). This extensive network underscores the bank’s commitment to strengthening digital and self-service banking while reducing dependency on traditional branch banking.
