Brahmanbaria Clash Over Debt Leaves Twenty Injured

A violent dispute over unpaid debts erupted in Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria, on Wednesday morning, leaving at least twenty people injured. Several of the injured were treated at the Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex, while others received on-site first aid.

The clash occurred in Shreeghar village of Burishwar Union. According to police and local sources, the conflict traces back to a loan of BDT 100,000 taken almost a year ago by Shahjahan Mia, son of Nuruddin Mia, from Arush Mia of the same village. The money had not been repaid on time, leading to a verbal altercation between the two men on Tuesday, which escalated into a physical confrontation the following morning.

Armed with sticks, iron rods, and other improvised weapons, both sides engaged in a prolonged fight lasting several hours. The police were alerted to the incident and promptly arrived at the scene, successfully restoring order and preventing further escalation.

Officer-in-Charge Shahinur Islam of Nasirnagar Police confirmed the incident, stating that authorities intervened quickly to contain the situation and provide assistance to the injured. He added that those requiring more extensive medical attention were referred to local healthcare facilities.
