‘Buk Chinchin’ Star Pabel Begins Married Life

Jayed Parvez Pabel, the young Bangladeshi singer who captured widespread attention four years ago with a contemporary rendition of the iconic song Buk Chinchin, has embarked on a significant new chapter in his personal life. Known for his distinctive vocal style and growing presence in the music industry, Pabel recently tied the knot in a family-centred ceremony held in Chattogram.

The wedding celebrations took place on Friday, with the post-marital festivities organised at a convention centre in the port area of Chattogram. Prior to the reception, the couple’s akd (Islamic marriage contract) was solemnised earlier in the day in an intimate setting, attended by close relatives from both families. Pabel’s wife, Tanzima Islam, is a student at a private college in Chattogram.

Speaking to the media about his marriage, Pabel shared that the decision was made collectively by both families. He explained that discussions regarding marriage had been ongoing for several months and eventually progressed smoothly through familial consent. “My family played a key role in making this decision, and I am grateful for that,” he said. “Tanzima was also my personal choice. After spending time speaking with her, I felt she would be the right companion for the journey ahead. I am genuinely happy to have found a life partner through my family’s choice.”

Despite the new responsibilities that come with marriage, Pabel remains deeply committed to his musical career. He revealed that several songs recorded in his voice are currently ready for release and will be unveiled at an appropriate time. In addition, he is set to lend his voice to songs for upcoming television dramas, further strengthening his presence in the entertainment industry.

Interestingly, Pabel does not come from a musical family. His passion for singing developed during his school years, particularly while studying in the tenth grade, when he became inspired by the music of renowned Bangladeshi artist Habib Wahid. While his peers spent their leisure time socialising or playing sports, Pabel devoted himself to vocal practice and musical learning.

Nearly 14 years ago, he moved to Dhaka with the ambition of becoming a professional singer. After completing his undergraduate degree at a private university, he has spent the past four years fully immersed in music as a full-time profession. Throughout this journey, his strongest sources of encouragement have been his mother and his elder brother.

It is worth noting that Buk Chinchin was originally featured in the film Bastob, directed by Badiul Alam, with lyrics by Kabir Bakul and vocals by legendary singers Andrew Kishore and Dolly Sayontoni. The song later found renewed popularity when used in the television drama Shilpi, directed by Mahidul Mahim. Pabel’s dual rendition—incorporating both male and female vocal elements—brought fresh life to the classic, earning him widespread acclaim. The drama starred Afran Nisho and Mehazabien Chowdhury in lead roles.
