In Sirajganj’s Kazipur area, a passenger bus lost control on Saturday (10 January) and crashed into a mosque, causing significant structural damage and injuring two people. The incident occurred around midday on the Sirajganj–Kazipur regional road in the Simantabazar area.
Authorities and local eyewitnesses reported that the bus, operating under the name “Priyo Enterprise,” was heading towards Sirajganj town. Upon reaching Simantabazar, the vehicle attempted to overtake a stationary truck. During the manoeuvre, the bus collided with a battery-operated van, which subsequently forced it off the road and into the adjoining mosque, breaking through its wall.
Two individuals sustained serious injuries in the crash: the bus driver, Abdul Mannan, son of the late Solaiman Hossain from Mirpur Mahalla, Sirajganj, and the van driver, Farid Sheikh, a resident of Vewamara village in Kazipur Upazila. Both were rescued promptly by local residents and initially admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Sirajganj 250-Bed General Hospital for further treatment.
