In a harrowing incident on Thursday morning, a passenger bus carrying 33 people overturned along the Rajbari–Kushtia Regional Highway in Pangsha, Rajbari District. The accident, which occurred around 7:30 am near the Maishala bus stand, left at least three passengers injured and caused a temporary disruption in traffic.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus lost control after its wheels slipped on a muddy section of the road. The slippery conditions were attributed to recent rainfall combined with poor drainage on the highway, creating a hazardous stretch for commuters. As the driver attempted to regain control, the vehicle toppled onto the roadside, causing panic among the passengers.
The injured have been identified as Munnaf Uddin, 40, son of Md. Kitab Uddin of Kushtia Hospital Mor; Kanis Sharmin, 35, wife of Rajibul Haque, also from the same area; and Shamsul Alam, 45, son of the late A. Jalil. All three were promptly taken to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex for emergency treatment. Doctors reported that their conditions are currently stable following preliminary care.
Pangsha Highway Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Maksudur Rahman Murad, confirmed that police were immediately dispatched upon receiving the alert. He stated that the scene was secured, and the overturned bus was removed to restore normal traffic flow. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether road conditions or vehicle-related factors contributed to the incident.
