Citizens Bank Joins BREB for Rural Bill Collection

Citizens Bank PLC has entered into a strategic partnership with the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) to facilitate electricity bill collection nationwide. The signing took place at BREB’s Head Office in Nikunja-2, Dhaka, highlighting the banks’ commitment to supporting rural energy services.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Managing Director of Citizens Bank PLC, and Dr. Najmus Sayadat, Member (Finance) of BREB. Representing their respective organisations, Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of Citizens Bank, and Mr. Md. Masud Parvez, Director (Finance), Directorate of Financial Monitoring (Northern Region) of BREB, executed the formal agreement.

Also attending were senior officials including Mr. Md. Abdul Latif, Deputy Managing Director of Citizens Bank, and Mr. Md. Idris, Controller, Finance & Accounts of BREB, along with other key staff from both institutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, Citizens Bank PLC will utilise its extensive network of branches and sub-branches to collect electricity bills for Palli Bidyut Samities operating under BREB. This initiative is expected to make payments more convenient for rural consumers, reduce processing times, and enhance transparency in billing operations.

Officials emphasised that the collaboration strengthens financial accessibility for remote communities, enabling residents to settle electricity bills without travelling to central BREB offices. By leveraging Citizens Bank’s nationwide presence, BREB aims to modernise bill collection and improve service delivery across its rural network.
