Clash Among BNP Supporters in Narayanganj Leaves Homes on Fire

In Sonargaon, Narayanganj, a clash erupted between supporters of two BNP leaders over control of sand depots, leaving at least four people injured and several houses set on fire.

The incident occurred on Thursday (6 November) from 8:30 pm and lasted for three hours in Ashararchar area of Pirojpur Union. Locals reported that both sides looted and set fire to each other’s homes.

Police and local sources said the feud stems from a long-standing rivalry between the two brothers over dominance and control of sand depots. Supporters threw bricks and carried out arson; fire services and police were even attacked while trying to control the fires.

The clash was led by Abdul Rauf, Joint General Secretary of Sonargaon BNP, and his younger brother Abdul Jalil, Organizational Secretary of Pirojpur Union BNP. Both leaders have been taken to the police station, with additional police deployed to the area. Legal action will follow.

Two fire service units spent nearly an hour bringing the fires under control, and the four injured have been admitted to a local hospital.
