Pabel Munsi had acquired goods on credit from Jafar Hawladar, a grocery store owner in Bukhainagar Market, Chormonai Union. When Munsi later demanded repayment of the outstanding dues, a violent confrontation ensued on 31 October 2025. Reports allege that Munsi, armed with sharp homemade weapons and sticks, assaulted Hawladar with the intent to kill.

During the attack, Jafar Hawladar sustained serious injuries. Additionally, the assailant allegedly assaulted Hawladar’s son and committed acts of sexual harassment against his daughter. The incident reportedly also involved the looting of approximately BDT 250,000 from the family.

Following the attack, the injured shopkeeper filed a formal complaint with Kotwali Model Police Station, naming Pabel Munsi as the principal accused. After Munsi surrendered to the court, the magistrate denied his bail application, citing the severity of the charges, and ordered his remand to prison.
