Control Room Monitors Election Operations

In a bid to ensure continuous monitoring and effective management of election-related activities and law-and-order situations, the Chattogram District Police have established a fully integrated Operations Command and Control Room. The facility is designed to supervise, coordinate, and respond to any developments across the district during the upcoming elections.

On Monday, 9 February, the Operations Command and Control Room, located at the Chattogram District Police Superintendent’s office, was officially inspected by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin alongside DIG (promoted to Additional Police Inspector General) Md. Ahsan Habib Palash of the Chattogram Range.

During the inspection, the officials reviewed the command room’s advanced systems, including body-worn camera workstations, live location monitoring systems, and digital operational maps, which are all pivotal for comprehensive election surveillance. Dr. Ziauddin expressed satisfaction with the district police’s preparedness, technical capability, and professional conduct in maintaining law and order through modern technological solutions.

According to police officials, a total of 119 mobile teams and 30 striking parties deployed for election security are centrally monitored through the control room. Officers-in-charge (OCs) and senior officials of all 17 police stations across Chattogram District can observe the real-time activities of each mobile team and striking party, ensuring prompt coordination and response.

Additionally, 469 body-worn cameras used by field personnel are connected online, providing continuous monitoring from the control room. This infrastructure enables immediate communication and the issuance of directives when necessary.

District Police spokesperson and Additional Superintendent of Police, Md. Rasel, highlighted that walkie-talkie sub-stations have been established to maintain uninterrupted communication with all officers and forces deployed for election duties. Live location tracking allows teams to be dispatched swiftly to required locations. Monitoring also extends to social media and electronic media platforms to detect and address any potential disturbances.

For rapid and efficient routing of mobile and striking teams, Google Maps is utilised. Emergency coordination involves sharing critical contact information with the police, armed forces, RAB, BGB, Coast Guard, Ansar, judicial and executive magistrates, and presiding officers.
