Prominent content creator Ashraful Hossain Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, has been arrested once more, this time in connection with a case alleging sexual assault, physical abuse, and forced abortion under the pretext of marriage promises. The arrest was carried out by police from Bogura Sadar Police Station as Alam arrived to cast his vote in the 13th national parliamentary elections.
Inspector (Investigation) Mahfuz Alam of Bogura Sadar Police Station confirmed the arrest, stating: “Hero Alam was apprehended this morning, 19 February. An arrest warrant had been issued by the court, and he was detained in accordance with that warrant.”
The legal proceedings began on 10 February when the judge of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 in Bogura, Anwarul Haque, conducted a hearing and subsequently issued the arrest warrant. The case alleges that Alam lured Sadia Rahman Mithila with promises of stardom and repeatedly subjected her to sexual assault, physical abuse, and forced her to undergo an abortion.
Following initial investigations, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) confirmed the credibility of the allegations, which prompted the court to accept the case and authorise Alam’s arrest.
Prior to his detention, on 11 February, Hero Alam reportedly stated, “I am travelling to the area and will arrive by night. The case is fabricated. After the elections, I will appear in court. Despite the arrest warrant, I retain my right to vote.” However, his plans were cut short when he was taken into custody upon arrival at the polling station in Bogura.
The sequence of events can be summarised as follows:
| Date | Event | Location | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|

| 11 February | Hero Alam announces election visit | – | Plans to vote despite pending warrant |

The arrest has once again thrust Hero Alam’s personal life and legal standing into the public spotlight. It has also sparked broader discussions on the balance between citizens’ electoral rights and ongoing criminal proceedings, raising both social and legal debates across the country.
