CRP and MetLife Foundation Advance Skills Training

The Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), in partnership with the MetLife Foundation, has provided comprehensive training and support to 40 persons with disabilities, enabling them to pursue self-reliance through skill development, certification, and small business assistance.

This initiative is part of the ‘Jagoron’ programme, launched in 2025, which seeks to empower participants by improving their professional abilities and facilitating sustainable livelihoods. By combining structured training with practical application, the programme aims to bridge the gap between skill acquisition and income generation.

Participants underwent specialised courses in computer office applications, electronics and mobile phone servicing, and garment production and tailoring. In addition to technical instruction, participants received guidance on applying their skills in real-world business or employment contexts, promoting entrepreneurial confidence and economic independence.

Programme officials emphasised that these interventions not only enhance participants’ capabilities but also create opportunities for income-generating activities, thereby fostering long-term financial and social empowerment. The initiative is set to expand in the coming months, with plans to train an additional 110 individuals under similar support structures.

Throughout the training period, CRP maintained a fully inclusive and accessible environment, providing participants with free medical and therapy services to ensure their well-being and facilitate effective learning.

According to the MetLife Foundation, this initiative reflects its commitment to creating inclusive opportunities, strengthening community networks, and promoting skill development for persons with disabilities. The collaboration highlights the vital role of such programmes in fostering independence and social participation among marginalized communities.
