Chattogram, Bangladesh – A tragic road accident in Anwara has claimed the life of a young motorcyclist, only a week before he was due to be married. The incident occurred on Friday morning on the Patia-Anwara-Banshkhali (PAB) Road, in the Fazilkhar Haat area of neighbouring Doulatpur, leaving the local community in mourning.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Ali Abbas, 28, son of Md. Musha from the household of Golam Sharif in Ward 1 of Jhiori village, Barkhain Union, Anwara Upazila. According to local residents, Ali Abbas had travelled to Chattogram city the previous night to attend a family invitation. He was returning home on his motorcycle early on Friday morning when the fatal accident occurred.
Witnesses reported that at approximately 7:00 a.m., a car collided with his motorcycle in Fazilkhar Haat. Ali Abbas sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Heartbreakingly, his wedding had been scheduled for the following Friday.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, the deceased’s brother, Ali Akbar, recalled the family’s past tragedy. “On 30 March last year, my wife and child were involved in a motorcycle accident. My wife passed away,” he said. “Now, barely a year later, I have lost my brother in another motorcycle accident. It feels unbearable.”
Shahinur Jaman, Officer-in-Charge of Karnaphuli Police Station, confirmed the incident. “The body was recovered from the scene and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. We are currently trying to identify the car involved in the collision,” he stated.
The accident has cast a sombre shadow over the Anwara and Doulatpur communities, as friends and neighbours come to terms with the untimely death of a young man whose life and future were tragically cut short. Local authorities have urged road users to exercise extra caution, particularly in busy market areas like Fazilkhar Haat.
