Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been appointed to the coaching panel of London Spirit for England’s prestigious The Hundred tournament, a 100-ball competition that has rapidly become a highlight of the cricketing calendar. Karthik will take on a dual role, serving both as a mentor and batting coach, marking his first coaching assignment outside of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
London Spirit’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, welcomed Karthik to the team, saying:
“We are thrilled to have Dinesh on board. His extensive experience in short-format and franchise cricket is invaluable to us. He brings fresh perspectives, immense energy, and a unique approach that will undoubtedly inspire our players. Bringing someone of his calibre into the coaching setup reflects our ambition. We want our players to have access to the highest quality guidance, and Dinesh will play a crucial role in achieving that.”
Karthik, who concluded his IPL career recently, had already undertaken a similar mentoring role with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2025. Alongside coaching, he is also actively engaged as a cricket commentator, sharing his insights across multiple media platforms.
Despite taking up coaching duties, Karthik remains an active player, currently representing Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20 league in the United Arab Emirates. His dual engagement as both a player and coach highlights his enduring passion for the game and his commitment to nurturing emerging talent.
Speaking about his new role, Karthik expressed his excitement:
“I am absolutely thrilled to join London Spirit. I look forward to working with some fantastic cricketers next season and helping guide the team to success. The opportunity to contribute both on and off the field is something I am really looking forward to, and I am keen to share my experience and strategies with the squad.”
