Dolly Sayantani Blends Nostalgia with Modern Music

The timeless charm of classic Bangladeshi cinema songs is being reimagined for a contemporary audience, and Dolly Sayantani is leading the trend. The singer recently unveiled two new tracks, including one that beautifully incorporates elements of the beloved 1988 song “Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile”, originally performed by Runa Laila and Andrew Kishore.

The original composition, crafted by Alam Khan with lyrics by Moniruzzaman Monir, featured in the film Dui Jibon and has remained a staple in the hearts of Bangladeshi music lovers for decades. In her new rendition, Dolly retains the first two lines of the song and seamlessly integrates them with fresh lyrics penned by Sudip Kumar Deep. The musical arrangement has been handled by Shamim Mahmud, and the track features a duet with Ruslan Mezbah, under the title “Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile”.

In addition to this homage, Dolly has released an original track, “Moira Jodi Jaigo Ami”, written and composed by Rohan Raj. The song highlights Dolly’s ability to bridge nostalgia with contemporary creativity, offering both reverence for the past and fresh musical experiences for her audience.
