Dinajpur’s Hakimpur Upazila was shaken on Wednesday morning (18 March) when the body of a known drug user was discovered in Hili. The incident occurred on Hili CP Bazar Road, in front of A. Mannan’s warehouse. Local residents alerted the authorities, prompting the police to recover the body and take it to the local station for further investigation.
According to police sources, residents noticed an unconscious man lying by the roadside during the early hours. They immediately contacted Hakimpur police, who arrived swiftly at the scene and recovered the deceased. Preliminary inquiries identified the man as Hoki, aged 42, a resident of Satmatha in Bogura district. Verification of the deceased’s identity is underway in coordination with the Bogura District Police.
Sub-Inspector Md. Suja Mia of Hakimpur Police Station stated, “The body has been brought to the station. Once the identity is confirmed, it will be handed over to the relatives after completing legal procedures. The actual cause of death will be determined through a forensic examination.”
Locals reported that Hoki had struggled with drug addiction for many years. While the exact circumstances leading to his death remain unclear, authorities are investigating whether his substance abuse played a role.
