Eid Film Showdown: Star Salaries and Budgets Revealed

This Eid, the Dhallywood spotlight is firmly on its cinematic releases, with audiences eagerly debating which films to watch. The excitement is heightened not only by star power but also by the staggering production budgets that have become a hot topic in the industry. Shakib Khan, Siam Ahmed, Afran Nisho, and other leading actors are headlining films that promise to make a splash at the box office, each with considerable investment behind them.

Bunolota Express

Following last year’s hit Utsab, director Tanim Noor returns with Bunolota Express, which will release exclusively in multiplexes. Noor confirms the production budget is around four crore taka, a figure he describes as necessary to realise the film’s vision. The movie features an ensemble of Dhallywood veterans, including Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Shariful Raj, Azmeri Haque Badhon, and Sabila Noor, making it a star-studded affair from the outset.

Dom

Afran Nisho stars in Dom, returning for his third major screen performance, with Puja Cherry as the leading lady. With shooting locations extending to Kazakhstan, the film boasts elaborate sets and high production standards. Producer Shahriar Shakil, however, is cautious about revealing the exact budget, citing the lack of a formal box office system. He did confirm, though, that Dom exceeds the scale of his previous high-budget venture Tufan.

Rakshosh

Director Mehedi Hasan presents Rakshosh, starring Siam Ahmed and Susmita. The film follows Borobod, one of Dhallywood’s previously expensive productions. While precise figures are not disclosed, insiders suggest that the budget, though substantial, is slightly below the ten crore taka spent on Borobod. Producer Shahrin Akter emphasises that delivering a complete, polished product took priority over star costs.

Pressure Cooker

Raihan Rafi, known for his lavish productions Tufan and Tandob, introduces Pressure Cooker this Eid. He confirms the budget is modest by comparison but sufficient to meet the story’s requirements, avoiding unnecessary extravagance. Sources estimate the film’s budget at approximately 2.5–3 crore taka.

Prince

As ever, Shakib Khan dominates the conversation with Prince. The teaser has already generated buzz, with insiders claiming this could be his most expensive film to date. Director Abu Hayat Mahmud explains that the production adhered to standard budgeting for a Shakib Khan project, ensuring quality without compromise. Industry estimates place the budget between 9 and 12 crore taka.
