A shocking act of violence shook Barishal Sadar Upazila on Wednesday evening when 60-year-old Delwar Hossain was fatally attacked in his village. The incident occurred around 8:00 pm on 18 February in Bousherhat Majh Gram, located within the Raipasha-Korapur Union.
Delwar Hossain, son of Mohammad Hossain, was a long-standing resident of the village and the leaseholder of the local market. According to eyewitnesses, he was returning home from the market when unidentified assailants ambushed him in the heart of the village. The attackers inflicted severe knife wounds, leaving him critically injured at the scene. Neighbours rushed to help upon hearing his screams, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before any medical aid could arrive.
The Bimanbandar Police Station responded promptly, recovering the body and sending it to Sher-e-Bangla Hospital, Barishal for a post-mortem examination. Officer-in-Charge Md. Mizanur Rahman confirmed the murder, stating that the perpetrators have not yet been identified and that police operations to apprehend them are ongoing.
Family sources revealed that Delwar Hossain had been involved in a longstanding property dispute with his cousins.
