A shocking incident in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, has left the local community in deep distress after the mysterious death of a young expatriate’s wife. The tragedy occurred sometime between 10:00 pm on Monday, 2 March, and 3:00 am on Tuesday, 3 March, according to estimates from the victim’s family. The scene was located in the eastern Morichya Madhughona area of Kalar Pahar in Ward 1 of the Haldiapalong Union.
The deceased, Lala Bibi, 28, was married to Abdul Shukur, a resident of the same area who works abroad in Malaysia. Sources close to the family reported that after completing her usual evening routine and having dinner, she went to bed with her two children — seven-year-old Abu Bakr Siddiq and four-year-old Noor Fatema.
Discovery of the Body
At approximately 4:35 am on Tuesday, Abu Bakr Siddiq woke to find his mother lying on the floor inside the house, bleeding and barely conscious. The child stated that blood was coming from her forehead, nose, and mouth. Acting swiftly, he alerted a neighbour, Momtaz Begum, who along with other locals rushed to the house to assist the family.
The incident was reported to the police via the local Union Parishad member. Officers from Ukhiya Police Station arrived promptly, conducted an initial inspection, and prepared a formal inquest report. Subsequently, the body was sent to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for a detailed post-mortem examination.
