Fatal Road Accident in Valuka Kills Two

Moymonshingh’s Valuka Upazila witnessed a devastating road accident on Tuesday, 20 March, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to at least thirty others. The tragic incident occurred around midday in the Club Bazar area of Varadoba Union, along the Dhaka–Moymonshingh highway, on the lane heading towards Moymonshingh.

According to local sources, a high-speed bus travelling towards Moymonshingh suddenly lost control. The vehicle first collided with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, both moving in the same lane, before striking a roadside electric pole. The impact caused the bus to overturn onto the side of the highway. Both auto-rickshaws were mangled beyond recognition, while the front section of the bus suffered severe damage.

The accident claimed the life of 50-year-old Mushi Akter, a resident of Kashiganj in Trishal, at the scene. The identity of the second deceased, estimated to be around 60 years old, has not yet been confirmed. Most of the injured were rushed to Valuka Upazila Health Complex for initial treatment, with five critical cases transferred to Moymonshingh Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.
